Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

January 2010- Starts a new year and a new decade. Every New Years millions of people make their to do list for the year, their resolutions. Weight loss, financial saving, better work ethic – to name a few. It always seems that we start off strong, and then lose focus on the end goal somewhere along the way. We hit the refresh button every January and hope “this year” will be different- special. Determined and willing our gung-ho attitude takes us well in April maybe even June if you are lucky- then something happens… smoke gets in our eyes and we lose sight of why we even had the goals to begin with. Now I know that this doesn’t apply to everyone, but it definitely applies to me. After careful evaluation, I think I found my problem. No accountability.

With that in mind, by blogging about my goals for this year- there is a sense of accountability because it’s in black and white- written for anyone to see. Below are my personal goals and ways I hope to accomplish them.

1) Healthy and Happy- Stop worrying about the latest fad diet or crave and just do it with old fashion exercise and proportion control. Also to not worry so much about the mundane day to day activities and look at the bigger and brighter picture. Life is too short to be stressed all the darn time.

2) Deepen my relationships- spiritually and mentally. I would like to reconnect and deepen my relationships with my friends and myself. I figure more phone dates and actual letters than tweets or facebook messages. We are in such a digital age- simple handwritten notes are an inconvenience and phone calls have been substituted with texts.

**Note** this blog is not dedicated to me and my goals-it is Sinatra lyric inspired. That opens the doors to just about anything. But I felt that the first post should set the bar.

Even if no one cares about my personal goal list- think about this, when was the last time you actually accomplished one of your New Year’s Resolutions?

Don’t let the smoke get in your eyes this year- stay focused and wear your glasses.
